Molecular Gate SL has developed a new method for modifying the orientation of organic semiconductors’ molecular chains that will revolutionize the smart packaging industry thanks to its scalability and user-friendliness.
Molecular Gate SL is advancing a novel Polargram™ labelling technology based on printed polarisation contrast in ultrathin films of plastic ‘molecular electronic’ materials. No ultraviolet lamps, scanners or other specialised verification tools are required, thereby qualifying the technology as Level 1 or, by interfacing with ubiquitous hardware such as smartphones, a hybrid Level 1.5.
The method has been developed by researchers Mariano Campoy-Quiles and Aleksandr Perevedentsev, from the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC). One of the first applications of this technology is aimed at preventing the counterfeiting of drugs and vaccines.
